A beginning on Lanzarote

Everything Lies in the Beginning

The saying “Everything lies in the beginning” sounds simple, yet it holds a profound truth. The beginning is the place where all potential rests – where direction, possibility, and challenge are already encoded. The way we start often determines how the rest will unfold. This principle invites us to begin with intention and awareness – whether it’s a project, a transformation, or an inner journey.

The Seed of Creation

A beginning can be compared to a seed. Within that tiny core lies the whole tree, waiting for the right conditions to grow. The same goes for our dreams, projects, and relationships. Everything starts with an intention and a first step. Yet we sometimes forget the importance of a solid foundation. We long for quick results, skip steps, or get caught in perfectionism. And yet, in those first, vulnerable moments, the blueprint for what will unfold is already present.

The Power of the Moment

The beginning is a sacred moment – a fusion of longing, courage, and the unknown. It can also feel difficult, because starting something new involves risk, and the unknown can feel unsafe. But it is exactly in that tension between what is not yet and what might emerge that the greatest power resides. Think of writing a book: putting the first word on paper can feel uncertain. Yet it is the beginning of a journey that may lead you to a new chapter in your life.

Lanzarote – Island of the Mars Principle

My latest journey brought me to Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the west coast of Morocco. Scientists believe Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were the first islands of the archipelago. Through my studies with Dr. Ruediger Dahlke, I learned that Lanzarote embodies the Mars principle: action, courage, initiative, and a pioneering spirit. As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries belongs to the Mars principle. Springtime and the period between March 21 and April 19 are associated with this – and it was exactly during that time that I found myself on the island.

The landscape, shaped by volcanoes and lava flows, breathes a raw, primal energy. After the silence of winter, it is a place that invites the arrival of spring – a call to grow, to move, to awaken renewed life force.

Author Silvia Volckmann calls Lanzarote a feminine island, full of fertile energy after the destruction caused by volcanic eruptions. The volcano as a symbol of both destruction and birth – a fascinating contrast to the masculine energy of Mars. What Lanzarote truly is cannot be captured in words. It’s something you must experience for yourself, with body and soul.

The Dance of Strength and Surrender

During my stay, I felt both the island’s fiery power and its quiet calm. I had grand plans to explore everything, to gather experiences, but halfway through I was struck by an unexpected fatigue. Perhaps it was the island’s intense energy, or the weather with its heavy clouds and fierce winds. It was an invitation not only to do, but also to be. To listen. To land.

On my last day, I wrote a bit more for this blog. The wind had calmed, the sun broke through more often. It felt like a symbolic closure, as if the island itself whispered: “Every beginning has its own rhythm. Trust the pace.”

Between Worlds

I’ve been back from Lanzarote for four days now, sleeping once again in my own bed. But when I wake in the night to go to the bathroom, I’m still there. Sitting on the edge of my bed, eyes closed, I feel around me in the dark – and only after a few moments do I recognize where I am.

Where was I in that space between dream and waking?

Maybe that will be the topic of a future blog.
For now, I’m simply grateful that I was able to experience a fresh spring beginning on Lanzarote – with volcanoes, sunshine, and a breathtaking natural landscape that invited me to start anew, from within.

If I keep sitting here tweaking the text to make it even more beautiful, I might as well wait for the next principle: Venus. Time for action! I’m posting the blog now.
